    Elton John 1971
Elton’s 40th! His first concert here was 40 years ago, and he’s returning this month, Feb. 24 and 25, to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center’s newly designed A&B Amphitheater. I remember that first Elton John concert very well … it was exciting, and two of his original musicians from 1971, Nigel Olsson on drums and Davey Johnstone on guitar, will join him for the anniversary. Maui, get ready to rock like a croc! …
A big congrats to Owen Wilson and girlfriend Jade Duell, who welcomed new son Robert Ford Wilson a few weeks ago … What better place to deliver a baby than here in Hawaii? Guess which proud uncle flew in for the happy occasion? Woody Harrelson, who also was seen enjoying a little barefooted outdoor soccer …

    Title: The Word Magazine Subscription

If you're a music fan with a The Word magazine subscription you might be interested to read Sir Elton John's opinion on music in the UK.
The singer, who recently became a father for the first time, told The Word magazine he finds it difficult to distinguish between music from The Saturdays, Cheryl Cole and Girls Aloud.
He said: "It's hard to tell Girls Aloud from The Saturdays. And then there's Cheryl Cole... It's all c**p."
"British pop music like that is the worst, it's just awful. It could have been made by anybody. All lip-synchers should be shot. Only drag queens are allowed to lip-synch," he added, in The Word magazine interview.
The expletives got worse in The Word magazine interview, with Sir Elton saying he only approves of groups who actually manage to sing their own songs.
He added: "99 per cent of the other f****** Herberts out there can't sing a note."
Sir Elton is currently promoting a new UK film, Gnomeo and Juliet, which he provides the music for.

Elton John and David Furnish ‘closer’ than ever

Elton John and David Furnish closer than ever celebrities
Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become closer following the birth of their new son.
The couple – who welcomed baby Zachary Jackson Levon into the world on Christmas Day (25.12.10) with the help of a surrogate mother – have found their relationship has improved since the new arrival, and the 63-year-old singer has found he is a “natural” father.
David explained: “It’s joyful, and it was interesting – I didn’t think, after 17 years we could feel any closer to each other, but I feel like the whole experience has brought us even closer together.
“And I just marvel at Elton at 63 years of age, attacking fatherhood for the first time. He’s just a complete natural, he’s rolled his sleeves up and got right involved, it’s been wonderful.”
While Sir Elton admitted he previously thought he was too old to be a father, his age is “nobody else’s business” as long as the pair bring up baby Zach well.
He added to British morning TV show ‘Daybreak’: “It crossed my mind a bit, I always said to you in the old days that maybe I’m too old to have a baby. I knew I would get criticized – we would get criticized – and I knew that it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, you can’t please everybody.
“We are not stupid people, we knew that we would get a lot of flak from certain areas, and we did, but we can rise above that and just bring our child up in the proper way. And at the end of the day it’s really nobody else’s business.”

Single Cover: Lady Gaga – ‘Born This Way’

    Born This Way
Little monsters rejoice! Lady Gaga has revealed the artwork for “Born This Way,” the first single off her album of the same name, coming May 23. In the black-and-white photo, the pop queen turns her head towards the camera as wind blows her blonde locks away from her face, accented by dramatic eye makeup and solid black lipstick. The upbeat record, produced by Gaga, Fernando Garibay, and DJ White Shadow, premieres this Friday and she will perform it live at Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
After hearing her new music, Elton John bestowed praise upon the title track. “The first single is the anthem that’s going to obliterate [Gloria Gaynor's] ‘I Will Survive,’” he told Rolling Stone. “I can’t think of how huge it’s going to be.”

    Elton John Additions

Most tours can add dates in individual markets with hardly a notice from local media. Most tours, that is, but not Elton John’s.
“Billings Books Elton John” reads the headline at BillingsGazette.com while the Duluth News Tribune proclaims, “Duluth Lands Elton John Concert.” Fact is, more than 40 years after “Your Song” introduced the world to the bespectacled popster, word that Elton John is coming to town is still big news. Nice to know there are still a few things you can count on.
New to the piano pounder’s road trip are April and May shows, beginning with Bismarck, N.D., at the Civic Center Arena April 6; Spokane, Wash., at the Spokane Arena April 8; Billings, Mont., at the Rimrock Auto Arena At MetraPark April 10; Wilkes-Barre, Penn., at the Mohegan Sun Arena At Casey Plaza April 22; Rochester, Minn., at the Blue Cross Arena April 23 and Duluth, Minn., at the Duluth Ent. Conv. Ctr. Arena May 6.
To be sure, there’s more to Elton’s visits to Billings and Duluth than two more dates on the tour. Elton’s Rimrock Auto Arena show marks the first major concert for the arena since a tornado tore the roof off of the structure June 20, resulting in the building losing several large sporting events valued at more than $5 million, according to NBC affiliate KULR-TV.
But not only has RimRock been repaired, but the arena has also received several upgrades since last year’s twister, including a $6 million sound system, new restrooms and elevators. However, KULR reports that not all improvements will be ready by the time fans fill up the seats for Elton.
