     FREDDIE, I'LL LOVE YOU ALWAYS

    DAILY MIRROR 28TH NOVEMBER 1991

ELTON'S TEARFUL FAREWELL Grieving Elton John said a tearful farewell to fellow superstar Freddie Mercury yesterday with the words: "I' will love you always." Elton's message was pinned to a massive wreath of pink roses shaped as a heart. The note added: "Thank you for being my friend." But the emotional tribute could not reflect the true loss felt by red-eyed Elton as he left AIDS victim Freddie's funeral. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he walked forlornly to his green Bentley before being driven off.

Freddie's Queen comrades were equally distraught. And as they filed away, it was announced that the band's best known hit Bohemian Rhapsody would be re-released next month to raise money for AIDS charities. The song will almost certainly be the Christmas No. 1.

In another gesture, planned by Freddie before his death last Sunday, the piles of flowers laid at West London Crematorium will cheer AIDS patients. They were gathered up after the service to be taken to hospitals caring for sufferers.

Elton John’s venue « One night in Vevey », Saturday, September 8th, has been announced to the press a little more than 15 days ago. The montreuxmusic.com team contacted immediately the organisers of this event and booked some tickets to be sold with our Freddie Memorial Day program services.

The connection between our event and Elton John’s venue is evident.
Elton and Freddie were not only simple pales. They were very good friends.
Everything started in 1975. Queen and Elton John had the same manager named John Reid, and since they were touring a lot, they had not more than 3 opportunities to see each other in the same town! Then, of course, they spent their leisure time together.

And 1982, in Munich, while Freddie was present at Elton’s concert there, Elton announced to the audience: “And now, I shall dedicate this next song to my friend Freddie”. The title was “I Am Still Standing”! As a reference to Freddie whose leg was in plaster that evening!

For the last 6 months of Freddie’s life, before he passed away on November 24th, 1991, due to bronchial pneumonia caused by aids, Elton would regularly visit him at Garden Lodge. Elton declared, some times later, in a BBC broadcast, in honour to his lost friend: “Freddie Mercury was an amazing and innovatory singer. A great showman and one of my best friends. It is a privilege to have been close to him, he was very funny and at the same time completely excessive and extravagant but also very kind.”
Montreuxmusic.com gives all Freddie Mercury fans the possibility to attend this unique Elton John’s venue with certainly a few surprises.

    Elton John: My lost friends

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article63449.ece

ELTON JOHN has told of his trauma at losing many close pals including Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury and John Lennon.

And the death that haunts him most is that of his best friend, fashion designer Gianni Versace, shot dead in Miami in 1997.
Elton poured out his heart as he chatted exclusively to me about his new album, The Captain And The Kid, in his plush West London home.
It is a follow-up to his 1975 classic, Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy, and the most moving track is one all about loss, called Blues Never Fade Away.
The 59-year-old star says: “This song is about how life is so unfair when great people go and others don’t. The third verse is about Gianni, the unfairness of it all and how the pain never goes away.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of people like Gianni and Diana and John Lennon and other friends who have gone needlessly.
“Two of my best friends have been murdered on their doorsteps in America ? I don’t think many people can say that.
“There’s always some little memory that brings you back to it. I miss John Lennon’s laugh and every day I wish Gianni was alive because we were soul mates.”
There’s a break in Elton’s voice when he talks about Gianni and he rubs his eyes, which are masked by a pair of trademark shades.
Another death which devastated him was that of pal Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS in 1991. Elton believes the only star to come close to him in terms of talent and popularity is Robbie Williams.

Best mates ... Elton with Versace
He says: “We haven’t really had anyone as outrageous as Freddie and his Britishness was part of what made him so great. People like Prince are equally as talented but nowhere near as outrageous.
“Robbie Williams has done it to a certain extent and he has that British attitude that people love.
“Robbie is the biggest solo star in the world right now and he should be proud of that.

“He’s doing something daring with his music. He’s trying new things and I respect him for it.
“Rudebox (Robbie’s new album) isn’t really my taste but he’s done all his Robbie Williams albums, now he’s trying something different.”
Elton and Robbie haven’t always seen eye to eye ? such as when Robbie accused the flamboyant singer of “kidnapping” him when Elton sent him to a rehab clinic to help him get off drugs in 1997.
And Elton has since referred to Robbie as being “not a well budgie.”

The pair haven’t spoken for years but Elton still has some good advice for his ex-pal, which he says he learned from spending time in therapy for his addictions to booze and cocaine.
He reckons Robbie should stop obsessing about getting even with old enemies such as Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith.
He says: “I wish he would please just let it all go.
“All it is doing is burning a hole inside of him, eating him up, making him angry and miserable.
“He should give himself a pat on the back and be proud of what he’s achieved. He’s proved himself ? he doesn’t have to do it any more. He’s the No 1 star in the world.
“He should just let the other s*** go and if he can’t, then he needs to see someone and talk about it.
“It’s one of the things I learned from getting sober ? to just let the past go.”
There is no one better qualified than Elton to hand out advice on the pitfalls of fame ? because he’s seen and done it all.
Drink, drugs, depression, suicide attempts ? you name it.

Rock 'n Royal ... joking with Princess Diana in 1993
Rock 'n' Royal ... joking with Princess Diana in 1993
Thankfully he came through the other side, got sober and settled down with long-term partner David Furnish, to whom he is now “married”.
And now, as he prepares to turn 60 next year, it is obvious that Elton is the happiest he has ever been.
To celebrate his milestone Elton is planning a special performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
It will be his 60th show at the venue ? a record no other artist has come close to. The thing that amazes me about Elton is his youthful outlook on life.
He is so obsessed with music that there isn’t an album he hasn’t got, or a new artist he doesn’t know about.
He is a huge fan of bands such as the Arctic Monkeys and The Feeling, and he thinks Nelly Furtado’s Maneater is one of the best songs of the year.
He thinks Bob Dylan got it all wrong when he said all modern records are “atrocious.”
Elton says: “He obviously doesn’t listen to as much music as I do. I understand where Dylan is coming from but I don’t think he listens to enough modern music.
    “I love hip-hop, I love the beats, that’s why I’m doing a hip-hop album.
“I spoke to Eminem last week. He’s not retired but he’s been through a hell of a year. I was due to fly to Detroit to write some songs with him on the day that his friend Proof was shot. But it didn’t happen due to the tragic circumstances.
“But I’m working with him and Pharrell (Williams) and others on a new album.”
When I ask if Elton would be embarrassing himself by rapping on the album, he jokes: “The only thing that I will be rapping, dear, are Christmas presents!”
Besides music, his other big passion is soccer ? and he has typically strong views about former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson. Elton, a former director at his beloved Watford FC, says: “Sven had no passion ? there was no sweat on his shirt. I watched (Portugal coach) big Phil Scolari and he was going nuts with passion. No wonder he’s beaten us twice now.
“I think the players had too much power under Sven. He was weak and there wasn’t enough discipline.”
But Elton is pleased that new boss Steve McClaren has seen some sense ? even if it did mean dropping Elt’s old pal David Beckham as captain.
He says: “I agree with the new manager that there shouldn’t be all this celebrity surrounding our players. The WAGS shouldn’t have been at the World Cup. You have to make sacrifices if you want to be successful and if it means being away from your wife for four weeks then so be it.”

    Chat ... Elton with Victoria
Elton says David would have been “gutted” about being axed, but adds it may give him the “kick up the pants” he needs to get back in the team.
The singer is godfather to the Beckhams’ sons Brooklyn and Romeo and has been close friends with the family for years.
They haven’t seen each other for a long while but Elton says he sent a message of support to David when he was given the England bombshell.
He says: “David put his heart and soul into being an England player and I know he was so proud to be the England captain so it has got to have hurt him a lot.
“He stood down as captain in a very elegant way, before he was booted out, but I think he was very close to Sven and that didn’t help. But England have a terrific captain in John Terry.”

INTRODUÇÃO AO MUNDO DE ELTON JOHN JERRY LEE LEWIS

INTRODUÇÃO AO MUNDO DE ELTON JOHN:
    JERRY LEE LEWIS

do rock, regados a doses generosas de drogas e sexo fácil.
O matador, o assassino, Deus e diabo.

    a música do diabo.

Em termos religiosos, Jimmy escolheu a salvação e Jerry, a danação. O

Jerry Lee condensou em clássicos como Great
Balls of Fire, e Breathless, por exemplo, a energia negra, o compasso
moralismo americano. Era difícil para o conservador way of life

Lewis.

Fire/A fera do Rock.

Completamente bêbado no Jô
no piano e martelou Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On. Histórico. Tocou no

No auge do escândalo, Jerry Lee declarou: "Não sei
porque estão fazendo isso com Jimmy. Se ele pecou, pecou com ele
mesmo. Ninguém tem nada com isso. Um homem tem que se satisfazer,
    oras!"

Êxtase, erotismo, bebedeiras, assassinatos, ritmos alucinantes. A

    LITTLE RICHARDS

ENQUANTO JERRY LEE LEWIS TEVE INFLUÊNCIA EM SEUS DEDILHADOS NO TECLADO, FATO CARACTERISTICO NAS CANÇÕES DE ELTON JOHN E NOS ACORDES TIPICOS DE CANÇÕES COMO "DEAR JOHN" E "CROCODILLE ROCK" O ASTRO LITTLE RICHARDS FOI DE GRANDE INFLUÊNCIA NA MÚSICA DE ELTON JOHN. A BLACK MUSIC DE RICHARDS SOMADO AO ROCK´N´ROLL INFLUENCIARAM E MUITO CANÇÕES DE ELTON JOHN.
O nome verdadeiro de Little Richard é Richard Wayne Penniman.
Arquiteto do Rock?, ?O Criador? e ?O Verdadeiro Rei do Rock?n?Roll?. O cantor, em 1986, atuou no filme Down and Out in Beverly Hills, com Bette Midler e Richard Dreyfuss.

Sir Elton John has called for the return of a weekly music show on TV.
Speaking to broadcaster Bob Harris on Radio 2 as the BBC marks the 40th anniversary of music show The Old Grey Whistle Test, Sir Elton said that new artists would benefit from exposure on television in the same way he did at the beginning of his career, remarking: ‘It would be great for new artists that had their first album, say like a Laura Marling, or Rumer, just for that purpose of launching, as it helped me when I had my first record out.
‘They don’t often get the chance to play live on television, there aren’t that many music shows on television.’
The BBC are celebrating the The Old Grey Whistle Test with a series of radio shows, featuring it’s original presenter Harris.
