Kate Bush's new album is to include appearances by Elton John and Stephen Fry. Both men have cameos on 50 Words for Snow, Bush's second album of this year, which is due to be released on 21 November.
News of Sir Elton's involvement on the LP comes courtesy of Anti-Records, an American label that represents Tom Waits, Wilco and Nick Cave. Bush is now joining their roster, at least in the US. Besides Fry and John, 50 Words for Snow also features Andy Fairweather Low and, according to his Twitter feed, the 19-year-old chorister Stefan Roberts. "I'm singing solo on one of the tracks," he warbled. "Yay!!!"
This is the first real team-up for Bush and Sir Elton, although she is famous for her interpretations of his work. Her 1991 version of Rocket Man – recorded for a tribute album – climbed to no 12 on the UK charts, and is one of the best-loved covers of the 1990s. Candle in the Wind appeared as a B-side. "From the age of 11, Elton John was my biggest hero," Bush wrote on the sleeve. "I loved his music, had all his albums and I hoped one day I'd play the piano like him (I still do)."
Meanwhile, Stephen Fry probably doesn't sing on 50 Words for Snow. But it's confirmed that he appears on the title track. "Just done a lovely amazing recording thing with a lively amazing musician," he wrote last month, remaining secretive. Eventually he fessed up: "Can now reveal it was this with the divine Kate Bush."
Prior to this year's two albums, Bush's last full-length recording was 2005's Aerial.

Hit musical Billy Elliot is to close on the New York stage next year, three years after it began its Broadway run.
The last performance of the show, which successfully transferred from London's West End, will be on 8 January.
With music written by Sir Elton John, the production has been seen by an estimated 1.65 million people in New York and won 10 Tony Awards in 2009.
Its tour across the US is due to continue, while the London stage version will remain open.
The original production in the West End opened in 2005 and won three Laurence Olivier awards the following year.
The musical, based on the 2000 film about a miner's son who finds escape in ballet, proved an early success on Broadway, regaining its initial $18m (£11.6m) outlay after a year.
It regularly turned over weekly box office receipts of around $1m (£647,425).
In recent weeks, the show's audience has been at around 70%, although discounted tickets have cut box office potential to around 50%.
And in the August week in which New York was hit by Tropical Storm Irene, the musical's takings were severely affected, in line with other Broadway shows.
It made $358,485 (£220,000) in the wake of the storm, down from $731,895 (£449,000) the previous week, according to figures released by the Broadway League.

GEOX the premier Italian brand and the renown British shoe designer Patrick Cox have created the eye catching footwear that Elton John will wear during his new show The Million Dollar Piano, which has just opened at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas.
Patrick says he has made hundreds of pairs of shoes for Elton over the past 20 years but this is the first time he has designed the shoe that Elton will wear on stage.  Fundamentally it’s a traditional English brogue but, Elton being Elton, he has made it in metallic leather in all colours of the rainbow. The Million Dollar Piano Tour opened at Caesar’s Palace on 28th  September 2011 and is named after the unique Yamaha piano that Elton John and Yamaha created especially for the show.
GEOX and Patrick Cox have recently teamed up to create a capsule footwear collection for Spring Summer 2012, which is the start of an ongoing collaboration between GEOX and Patrick Cox. GEOX new Spring-Summer 2012 collection for woman, man and children will be regularly distributed worldwide in all GEOX SHOPS and independent retailers.
