SIR ELTON JOHN has stepped up his attack on Oasis, labelling the biggest British band of the 90s "stupid sods" for not making it in the USA.
"They went over there and argued between themselves and cancelled the tour and they never broke America," John told Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell.
"You only get [the chance] once, and if you blow it, it's gone. You can't not regret that.
"I always thought, 'You stupid sods. You'll never get that opportunity again'."
The Rocket Man was in explosive form in the interview, arguing that Oasis were "boys" compared to "men" like, um, Coldplay, Muse and U2.
"It's only the cream that rises to the top," he said.
"It's the boys from the men. Coldplay, Muse, U2, all those bands. They're the men, and all the rest are boys."
Last week, John launched a potty-mouthed attack on Oasis in response to Noel Gallagher laughing that the Bitch is Back singer was too much of a diva to buy his own milk at the shops.
"He's just such a tosser," said John.
"I go into fucking shops all the time myself. He's an absolute tosser and he looks like Parker from Thunderbirds."
His material may have been the focus of the 'X Factor' -- who can ever forget Wagner's pointed rendition of 'I'm Still Standing'? -- but that hasn't stopped Sir Elton John lashing out at the show's supremo Simon Cowell for "humping and dumping" the show's acts.
Speaking to Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell, Sir Elton blasted Cowell for neglecting to nurture and look after the careers of the acts once the show is over.
"Everyone makes all the money off the 'X Factor' and sells the records but it's the cart before the horse," he fumed.
He continued: "What's the psychological damage going to be when they've humped and dumped them and the next one comes along? They're a bit like products, to be honest with you.
"They're products and the record comes out at Christmas, and it's always No. 1, and then what happens next year? Why aren't they touring? Who's managing these people?"
Come come, Sir Elton -- some of these acts are reaching the peak of their powers. Same Difference have set the world of light entertainment alight with regulars appearances at Butlins holiday camps, 2009 contestant Rachel Adedeji is a regular at Butlins while Stacey Solomon is really living the dream as a contestant on 'I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here' now that she's taken a break form appearances at, er... Butlins.
ELTON JOHN insists he'll contain his excitement about the 2011 royal wedding when he guest edits an upcoming issue of British newspaper The Independent - because he fears the media has gone overboard with its coverage of the big news.
The knighted pop superstar, who was a friend of groom-to-be Prince William's late mother Princess Diana - and performed at her funeral, insists he won't be turning his special issue into a royal wedding tribute.
He says, "There’s not going to be much about the royal wedding in there. I think we’ve had enough of that for the time being."
But Elton is hoping to be able to perform at the nuptials, which will take place in London next April (11).
He jokes, "I'll probably be busking outside."

Call us smug, call us lucky – whatever you want to call us (no rude names please from the cheeky regulars – you know who you are) – the fact is, we spent a cosy night with Sir Elton John last night. And... it was magnificent. The music legend took to the stage at Islington’s Union Chapel for an exclusive gig with Absolute Radio for what was supposed to be a 30 minute set – but ended up on for more than an hour and a half and broke the curfew. Whoops. But, we certainly are not complaining and neither were the likes of James Corden, Matt Lucas, Theo from Hurts and the lovely Andy Roddick who were all there (shmoozing with Elt’ before and after, in his dressing room no less). Sir Elt even praised the lovely Ellie Goulding on her cover of Your Song, saying “I think Ellie Goulding has done a brilliant job with her cover. She’s changed the arrangement up and it’s been done very well – that’s what you should do with a coverâ€. And of course The Absolute Radio DJs were also out in force for the night – with Ian Wright even admitting he was expecting to shed a few tears while watching Elton on stage. Shhh – but we totally did too. It was the amazing performance of Your Song, Rocket Man and I’m Still Standing that got us – those and the amazing last set with Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Best night out in ages!
Showcasing an album in concert
Elton John and Leon Russell are the latest artists to showcase an entire LP in concert. In this era of single downloads, it's a way to re-explore an extended musical thought.
When Elton John stopped in Los Angeles this month on his latest concert tour, he came in with one of the biggest storehouses of hits in pop music history. But instead of diving headlong into his catalog, he and his old friend Leon Russell devoted the centerpiece of their time together at the Hollywood Palladium to a complete performance of their new duet album, "The Union."
The performance ran counter to several bits of conventional wisdom about pop music today: Veteran artists must rely in concert on their hits to satisfy fans, the album format is dead or dying in the era of the downloadable individual track, and the ability and willingness of the pop audience to focus attention on extended musical works is shrinking by the minute, thanks to the explosion of music instantaneously available at the click of a mouse or iPhone app.
The John-Russell show was by no means an isolated incident.
A few weeks earlier, Velvet Underground alumnus John Cale played his 1973 album, "Paris 1919," from beginning to end in concert at UCLA. On Monday and Tuesday, Roger Waters encamps at Staples Center for a full-scale re-imagining of Pink Floyd's 1979 magnum opus "The Wall."
The Guinness Book of World Records winner in the field would have to be long-running L.A. experimental pop duo Sparks, which played its entire catalog of 21 albums over 21 nights two years ago in London leading to its then-latest effort, "Exotic Creatures of the Deep," presented on the final night, from beginning to end, of course.
If the album format is dead, a lot of musicians didn't get the memo.
"I think it's very healthy," said John. "We live in such a time of ADD attention deficit, when people hardly listen to something for more than 30 seconds before they switch channels. You don't go into an art exhibit and look at one painting; you look at 16. I think it's good to listen to a body of work."
After nearly half a century in which the technology of recorded music put the emphasis on individual songs three or four minutes long at most, from 10-inch 78 rpm discs up through the 7-inch 45 rpm single, the advent in 1948 of the long-play album capable of offering 40 to 45 minutes of music split over two sides of a vinyl LP allowed musicians of the '60s to significantly expand the scope of what they offered listeners.
hroughout the '70s, '80s and '90s, the album, even after CDs arrived in 1983, was the dominant form for musical expression in the pop music world. When the ability to share music over the Internet arrived in the late '90s, all that began to change, and in a few short years, the individual track has reigned once again. But many musicians refuse to let go of the medium that allowed them to explore an extended musical thought.
The live presentation of entire albums isn't so much happening in opposition to changes in music but in response to and perhaps even in tandem with those changes. Music fans can more easily than ever assemble individualized playlists on their computers or MP3 players — giving them unprecedented freedom of choice, while rendering irrelevant musicians' preferences for the sequencing of songs on an album.
But there's still no "shuffle" button to push at a concert. "Artists craft live shows to provide an experience the audience can't get at home," said Chris Sampson, head of USC's pop music performance degree program. "Not only has the conversion to 'cherry-picking' singles changed buying habits, it has also changed listening habits, with people listening while multi-tasking rather than sitting themselves in front of a hi-fi and taking in an entire album. A live performance of an album now offers a new experience for the audience and makes the concert more of a true 'event.'"
There's also the harsh reality of the recent downturn in the live music market, which had remained relatively robust even as the public's appetite for buying CDs and MP3s has eroded dramatically over the last decade. "The economy has really had an effect; we're guessing business is about 15% off compared to last year," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, which tracks the concert industry. "To impress fans to come out and see you one more time, it's helpful if you give them something special. It's not the kind of thing you can do over and over, but it's a great way to really rally the fan base."
Musicians have myriad motivations for taking on a full album live.
"It feels like there's a growing demand from our audience to hear more of the album tracks from 'Pinkerton' and our first album, 'The Blue Album,'" Weezer's Rivers Cuomo said of the two albums the group is performing on its current tour. "At the same time, it feels we've been doing the same sort of greatest-hits set for a while, so we want to try something different. We're doing it both for our own excitement and for the people coming to see us."
Long Beach rapper Snoop Dogg played his 1993 "Doggystyle" in full in concert last year because "I felt that album changed the face of music, and fans have been asking me to come back and perform it. I never had the opportunity, because I had some legal trouble when that came out. But now I could give people a piece of something they always wanted."
In the late '90s, Cheap Trick mapped out a strategy developed by the group's manager, David Frey, in which the band played each of its first three studio albums on three successive nights in each city it visited.
"It was a bit of a gimmick, really," bassist Tom Petersson said. "But it seemed like a good idea, and it was really interesting to go back and learn these songs, a lot of which we'd never played live before. Some were never popular, just things we did in the studio."
Jam band Phish has made a tradition out of performing a full album by another artist each Halloween. "It's almost like going to music camp for a month of every year," group leader Trey Anastasio said. "You start to hear the influences pop up when you're playing. … When we did [the Rolling Stones'] 'Exile on Main St.,' I didn't care about trying to make it sound exactly like the album. I wanted to get inside of their heads, and inside that era, to find out what made that music so powerful. It's really studying what makes rock music, popular music, tick."
A body of music
Singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams said the same thing happened to her in regard to her own body of music when she worked up five albums to play live over five nights to mark her 30th anniversary as a recording artist.
"It's good to go back and respect your early work," she said. "For every song I've written, there's going to be someone who loves that song. It's good not to just leave them behind and never go back and look at them. And you can learn something. My 'Car Wheels [On a Gravel Road' from 1998] album was the pivotal one for me, and I was thinking, just asking myself, 'What was it about those songs that drew people in? What can I learn from that?' …Ultimately, though, it gave me this freedom to do whatever I wanted to do."
Most practitioners, however, agree it also takes the right artist and the right album to make it work.
"Audiences sometimes have to be fed new material, almost trained to accept new material," said British guitarist Richard Thompson, who took the next step by mounting a short tour this year featuring a full album's worth of new material, recording the live performances and releasing it as his new album, "Dream Attic." "Some artists who have a couple of classic hits find that they are unable to retrain their audiences, so they tend to fall back on what the audiences want to hear. It's very static-repertoire syndrome."
That's the syndrome Sparks sought to demolish with its "21 Albums in 21 Nights" shows in London, where the idiosyncratic group formed four decades ago by brothers Ron and Russell Mael has maintained a strong following.
"We're not interested in doing nostalgia," Russell Mael said. "We thought, 'What could we do to focus attention on our current album that probably no other band could ever do on this sort of scale?' Any band that would have 21 albums in their repertoire wouldn't have the focus, the hunger and the kind of daring to want to do it."
Added Ron Mael, "In one sense, with iTunes and all that, it's moving in the other direction, where people are choosing just to listen to the strongest song off an album and have no interest in an album as an entire piece. They're not interested in the bigger picture."
And the bigger picture is exactly what musicians are after by taking on large-scale works in concert.
"If we can do anything to revive the strength of the music and help bring the business back, something that really has to be thought about is how to bring the value back, how to restore the loyalty, loving your artists," said producer Hal Willner, who worked with Lou Reed and artist Julian Schnabel in stagings of Reed's 1973 "Berlin." "The question you have to ask anytime something like this comes up is: Is it good or bad for music? It wasn't my line about music losing its value. Doing these albums, these whole pieces, it's just good for music."

Sir Elton John wowed a star-studded audience with an intimate show in London last night (25.11.10).
The legendary singer showcased material from his new album 'The Union', as well as his classic hits at the one-off show at the city's Union Chapel in Islington, where VIP guests included tennis star Andy Roddick and his wife Brooklyn Decker, screenwriter Richard Curtis and electro-pop duo Hurts.
Elton performed all of his songs unaccompanied on a grand piano and received a standing ovation after every number, with classics such as 'Your Song', 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' and 'Rocket Man' received particularly well. He was scheduled to play for just half an hour but broke the venue's curfew to give a full hour-and-a-half concert.
The event was hosted by Absolute Radio DJ Christian O' Connell and the station will broadcast the show in full on Boxing Day (26.12.10).
While Elton wowed the star-studded audience, the 63-year-old star has recently admitted he no longer feels he can write pop music and has no plans to release any more commercial singles.
He said: "I'm at that stage where I don't think I can write pop music anymore.
"I can't sit down and do a proper rock song. It was ok when I was 25 or 26, but not anymore. I like to do my little side-projects and have fun, but I don't think Elton John will be putting any pop singles out."

SIR ELTON JOHN would rather splash his cash on fancy specs than hi-tech gadgets — 250,000 of them.
The Rocket Man has admitted he's a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology and refuses to have an iPod, computer or even a mobile phone.
He told Radio 2: "I don't have an iPod or a mobile phone or a computer. I do have a quarter of a million pairs of glasses but I don't even have a mobile phone. If people want to get hold of me they can.
"The internet doesn't interest me either apart from getting my sports scores. I have a computer in the Los Angeles office but literally all I check is the news and the sports scores.
"I feel my life is full enough already and there's enough going on. I prefer writing personal notes and writing things down. Being on a Blackberry all the time would drive me crazy."
Still, he seemed to know his way around a mobile as he left his intimate gig at Chapel Union in Islington, London, last night. Maybe he gets his minions to carry the phone for him.
SIR ELTON JOHN may have a contemporary taste in luminous green eyewear, but the pop veteran has blasted modern music.
The singer insists today's chart offerings don't hold a Candle In the Wind to those of yesteryear.
Speaking on Radio 2, Elton told STEVE WRIGHT: "I'm Victor Meldrew-ish about mediocrity on television and music and stuff like that.
"I just find when you look at music in the late 60s, early 70s, during the 70s and even some of the 80s, it's so much better than it is now.
"It's not just me being grumpy, it's just a fact."
However, the rocker has softened his stance on The X Factor.
While Sir Elton fears for the young contestants' well-being, he can understand the appeal of applying for the show.
He said: "If I was young I suppose I'd want to go on X Factor. I won't be hypocritical about it. Or American Idol or whatever.
"It does vault you into the spotlight. The thing I complain about is that if you are vaulted into the spotlight and you haven't got anything to back it up.
"I always feel for the artist. I always care about the people who are thrust into the spotlight."
One such artist he panicked would go off the rails is Britain's Got Talent runner-up SUSAN BOYLE.
He added: "At the moment Susan Boyle seems to be holding her own. I was worried about her. But she seems to be really enjoying it and that's great.
"It makes me happy that she's successful and it seems to me she's a really lovely woman. It's a really lovely story."
Sir Elton John has suggested he could have a role at next year's royal wedding.
The musician - who was a favourite of Prince William's late mother Diana, Princess of Wales - said he would "probably" perform.
Sir Elton famously performed at Diana's funeral after the lyrics to his hit Candle In The Wind were adapted to reflect her life. The song went on to become the biggest selling single in UK chart history as it tapped into the nation's grief.
William and fiancee Kate Middleton announced their engagement last week and are to marry on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.
When Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright asked Sir Elton whether he would perform at the wedding, he replied: "I probably am."
But he then quickly joked: "I'll probably be busking outside."
The singer - who is soon to take a role as guest editor for The Independent newspaper - said he would not be commissioning much about the royal date.
"There's not going to be much about the royal wedding in there, though. I think we've had enough of that for the time being."
Sir Elton also bemoaned the state of the music world and its "mediocrity".
He told the Steve Wright in the Afternoon show: "I just find when you look at music in the late 1960s, early 1970s, during the 1970s and even some of the 1980s, it's so much better than it is now. That's a fact. It's not just me being grumpy, it's just a fact."
SHE’S had a hit single with Elton John and starred in acclaimed West End musicals – Kiki Dee is still at the top of her game, drawing in the crowds more than 40 years after she became a 60s teen sensation.
The secret of her success is an ability to reinvent herself. In her 40s, when it seemed her pop career may have run its course, she became an award-nominated actress, and now she’s teamed up with guitarist Carmelo Luggeri in an acoustic show playing intimate venues across Europe, with a stop in North Wales next month.
Born in Bradford, Kiki began her singing career with a local dance band and in the mid 60s was invited to London to record for Fontana Records.
She also worked in cabaret around the UK and appeared on radio and TV, such as The Morecambe and Wise Show.
But it was in the 70s when she signed to Elton John’s label Rocket Records that her career really took off with songs like Amoureuse and I’ve Got The Music In Me, and in 1976 the mega-hit duet with Elton, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
It’s still popular, with versions recorded in recent years by indie band Frightened Rabbit, chart-toppers Atomic Kitten and TV’s Glee.
“I think with me it’s been more about the style of the music than the celebrity, and I’ve always tried to stay true to that. I always want to evolve and develop, and love that challenge. What Carmelo and I do allows for that. We’re busy writing new material for the show, we try to keep it fresh, but we do play some of the old familiar songs as we want to make it an enjoyable evening for everyone,” she explained.
“I love the freedom and creativity of this phase in my working life, having a recording studio at my disposal and communicating with live audiences in an intimate setting is a great challenge and very rewarding.
Elton John invites Russia's President to his concert
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has received a personal invitation from the British rock singer, pianist and composer Elton John to his solo concert, scheduled for December 13 in St. Petersburg (at the Petersburg Sports and Concert Complex).
The singer is going to perform his best hits there, including "Believe", "Candle in the Wind", "I'm Still Standing" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting".
An official letter in which the singer makes a note of the Russian leader's commitment to rock music and adds that he would be extremely grateful if Dmitry Medvedev accepted his invitation was sent to the Kremlin. A day earlier, on December 12, Sir Elton John is going to give a concert in the metropolitan Crocus City Hall.
No information is yet available of Dmitry Medvedev's reaction to this letter and his plans.
ELTON John first took cocaine in 1974, when he was recording his album Caribou, in Colorado.
The Rocket Man hitmaker says his manager at the time introduced him to the drug.
“I walked into one of the back rooms in the studio,” Elton recalls, “and there was my manager and a couple of other people with this white powder in a line, and I said, ‘What on earth is that?’ They said, ‘Cocaine’, and I thought, ‘Hmmm. Can I try some?’
“I was so naive I didn’t even know my band smoked joints and they were the biggest pot-heads in the world. And I thought, I’m one of the boys now.”
Elton, 63, recently revealed he doesn’t own an iPod, computer or a “a portable phone” and is the only person he knows who can remember telephone numbers.
“Everybody else puts them into their phone. I feel like a grumpy old man, but I’ve made the choice not to join in with all that,” he said in a newspaper interview.
John then went on to say he “f***ing hates” pop videos and is not a fan of D-list celebrities.
“I loathe celebrity. I can’t stand it,” he said.

Billy Joel doing extremely well after hip surgery says rep
Billy Joel, 6-time Grammy winner, won't be on stage any time soon due to the singer/songwriter having surgical replacement of both hips last week. People Magazine reports that the 61-year old "Piano Man" decided to undergo the grueling, bilateral surgery due to a congenital condition.
Claire Mercuri, spokeswoman for the "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" singer says, "Billy Joel is doing extremely well following bilateral hip replacement."
However, there is no mention of where Joel is recovering, when he might be released, or if he is scheduled to appear in 2011.
The Songwriter's Hall of Fame musician wrapped up his "Face To Face" tour with fellow pianist Elton John this year on March 11, at Times-Union Center in Albany, New York.
Joel told Rolling Stone Magazine, "We'll probably pick it up again. It's always fun playing with him."
On Nov. 16, the "Big Shot" songwriter launched "Billy Joel:The Hits," a compilation of 19 top dittys that includes: "New York State Of Mind," "Moving Out," "You May Be Right," "The Longest Time," "My Life," and "Tell Her About It."
The songster's "Uptown Girl," however, is sadly missing.
In October, ContactMusic reported that the hitmaker signed a $2.25 million book deal with Harper Collins for a tell-all autobiography.
Meanwhile, documentary Last Play At Shea, the story of Billy Joel and the history of the Mets, also hit theaters this fall with Joel musical guests Paul McCartney, Roger Daltrey, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Don Henley, and Steven Tyler.
In 2011, Columbia Legacy Recordings will commemorate the 40th anniversary of Billy Joel's first solo album with a reissue of expanded editions of the singer's complete catalog.
For more information about Billy Joel, you can visit the singer at his official website.

Sobre o próximo álbum de Gaga,Born This Way, John acrescentou:
- A nova música dela é incrível! Born This Way, que também é o título do álbum, vai fazer todos esquecerem de I Will Survive, da Gloria Gaynor.
LAKELAND - Elton John is in a position to do what few fans can — give their faded idol a major label, international spotlight.
John brought Leon Russell out of semi-obscurity for this year's album, "The Union." It does both men proud, and Sunday's concert at the Lakeland Center Arena before a sell-out crowd of 7,200 did not disappoint.
John took the stage to introduce Russell, who began with his 1972 hit, "Tight Rope." Russell took a couple of songs to ease into his comfort zone, it seemed. He sounded genuinely humble talking about the phone call from John that sparked the project, and dedicated a gorgeous "A Song for You" to his piano partner.
Russell quickly picked up steam with a rollicking "Delta Lady" and "Rolling in My Sweet Baby's Arms" which segued into "Stranger in a Strange Land."
John and his band then took the stage. The material was familiar but John played chestnuts such as "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" as if he'd just written them.
Elton John performs to a sold out crowd Sunday. John performed solo and also with Leon Russell.
John's status as a celebrity and showman may overshadow his musicianship, but he set that right with two extended codas of "Rocket Man," the first featuring rich, melodic chording and the second a hard, stomping boogie. His piano work was impressive throughout, particularly on "Bennie and the Jets," which featured a loose swing absent on the original.
Russell returned to the stage and the pair ran through most of "The Union." Following a set of hits with a long string of new material could be deadly, but the "Union" songs were so strong, and the performances so compelling, that the show's momentum continued to build.
Russell sounded energized piano and vocal duties with John. "If It Wasn't for Bad" could have been vintage Leon, while "A Dream Come True," co-written by John and Russell, was a rolling, gospel rave-up of the kind that Russell once specialized in.
"Gone to Shiloh" harked back to John's rustic 1971 album "Tumbleweed Connection." John's and Russell's voices intertwined beautifully on the chorus.
"When Love Is Dying" may be the most powerful ballad John has performed since the heyday of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and "Someone Saved My Life Tonight."
The collaboration obviously has raised Russell's profile, and deservedly so. But it's also lighted a fire under John, who sounded as strong and committed to the new songs as the hits.

ASHEVILLE — Martin Huffstutler, of Waynesville, gave it some thought. He could “either fix my car, or take my sons to see Elton John” at the singer's sold-out show Tuesday night at the Asheville Civic Center.
In the end, the choice was simple but expensive. He bought three tickets from a “third party,'' paying $965 for the seats. “Next year, I can probably still fix the car,” he said. “But I couldn't take my sons to see Elton John next year.”
There were plenty of similar stories Tuesday night, as fans streamed into the Civic Center arena, where John and Leon Russell performed.
Glenda and Bruce Starr made the drive from Marion. “This is her birthday present,” he said. To get tickets, they first joined the singer's Rocket Club fan group. “I have loved Elton John since I was a teen,” she said. “He is a part of my life.”
Cecilia Smith, now of Asheville, originally from Mexico City, is another longtime fan. She grabbed two tickets — one for herself, one for a daughter, but they wound up sitting in different spots in the Civic Center. “They were a little expensive, but still affordable,” she said.
Popular downtown street musician Bobby Sax was stationed in front of the Civic Center arena, ready to play a few Elton John hits for the passing crowd. He remained hopeful that someone might pass him a spare ticket. “He's one of my all-time favorite artists,” he said.
Inside the arena, the beloved pop legend didn't disappoint his fans, treating them to a night of his greatest hits. Music veteran Leon Russell opened the show. The two performers have lately been touring together, and earlier this year, released a new recording, “The Union.”
This was Elton John's second visit to Asheville. In 1998, he played solo, but this time, the star was backed by a five-piece band.
The sold-out crowd waited in anticipation for Sir Elton John's latest show here, surrounded by colorful balloons that filled the arena halls. A fog-like haze hung over the arena. Two huge projection screens provided up-close views of the stage.
Some fans carried vinyl 12-inch albums, perhaps in hope of getting them signed.
And then they caught their first glimpse of Sir John. He was dressed in a dark suit and bright blue shirt, and thrilled the crowd just after 8 p.m. when he appeared on stage to start the show and introduce “my friend and hero,” Leon Russell. John promised “a long show,” and Russell got it going with his best-known tune, “Tight Rope.”
John soon followed — backed by a five-piece band including two drummers — turning out one hit tune after another: “Philadelphia Freedom.” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” A long sweet take on “Rocket Man.” After most songs he jumped to his feet and waved to the crowd. At one point, he wandered the stage pointing at fans in every corner of the room.
Many fans, intimate with his music, sang along to the well-known tunes.
After almost an hour, Russell returned to join John in playing tunes from their new album, “The Union.”
As for the economic impact of the show, it was felt far beyond the confines of the Civic Center.
Downtown was filled with traffic Tuesday night, both for John's concert and the sold-out Kiss Country Guitar Jam with Rodney Atkins and Gretchen Wilson a few blocks away at The Orange Peel music venue.
Crowds began arriving early, filling restaurants, pubs and parking lots around downtown.

Elton John comandará por um dia o jornal britânico The Independent e o novo diário i, ambos pertencentes à mesma editora.

Elton John Doesn't Own a Computer, iPod or "Portable Phone"
Elton John is no tech whiz. The "Rocket Man" singer, 63, doesn't own an iPod, computer or cell phone.
According to ShowbizSpy.com, Sir Elton John claims he doesn't own a "portable phone" and is the only person he knows who still bothers to memorize phone numbers.
“Everybody else puts them into their phone. I feel like a grumpy old man, but I’ve made the choice not to join in with all that,” he said.
John also said in the interview that he "f***ing hates" pop music videos and that he doesn't have a fondness for "D-list celebrities," ShowbizSpy said.
“I loathe celebrity. I can’t stand it,” he said.
Concert organizers in Italy have been told they need to pay the money back they used to hold an Elton John gig in Naples.
Sir Elton John was a headline for the concert as part of a festival in Naples, Italy. The event cost 720,000 Euros that came from the EU as funding to enhance regional development. It was only recently the EU discovered the cost of the gig and that some of the funds helped pay for the gig.
After looking into the case which was discovered while undertaking an audit into where the fund were being spent across the EU, the European commission sent a letter to the Italian government stating the funds spent needed to be reimbursed.
The commissions spokesmen said that the concert was not eligible for EU funding. The funding is aimed towards cultural events that aim to develop certain regions and also need to have long term investments.
The star and musical legend played at the festival in Naples last year in September 2009 in a concert that attracted over 100,000 and broad casted on Italian TV.
Sir Elton John only played the gig and accusations are towards the Italian government and not the pop star himself.

Segundo o The Sun, o torneio aconteceu na capital norte-americana, Washington.
