Elton
John‘s baby boy has arrived! After a week of rumors circulating he
and husband David Furnish had welcomed a second child together, the
singer has announced the happy news himself.
Revealing
the birth announcement to the UK’s Hello! magazine, Elton John let
it be known Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born at 6.40pm on
Friday January 11, 2013, weighing 8lb 4oz.
The
dapper dads, seen here at last year’s Golden Globe Awards, are also
parents of 2-year-old son Zachary.
The
65-year-old Rocket Man singer shared in a statement:
“Both
of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have
two sons is almost unbelievable. The birth of our second son
completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is
difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are
just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.”
So
sweet! You may recall Zachary was born via surrogate, and it is
believed Elton John and David Furnish chose the same California-based
woman to carry Elijah. Coincidentally, that same woman also gave
birth to Camille and Kelsey Grammer’s two children during their
marriage!
(I’m
going with the term “womblings” to describe the interesting
connection between the Furnish-John boys and the Grammer kids. Sound
good?)

Elton
John and David Furnish have welcomed their second child, a boy name
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.
Ellijah
joins big brother Zachary, 2, and was welcomed via a surrogate just
as his brother was. He was born January 11, 2013.
“Both
of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have
two sons is almost unbelievable," the “Rocket Man” singer,
65, said on his official website.
He
linked to an exclusive feature on Hello!’s website, announcing the
birth of Elijah.
“The
birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and
perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at
this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."
John
said last summer “I think it’s difficult to be an only child, and
to be an only child of someone famous," adding, "I want
Zachary to have a sibling."
John
and Furnish, 50, got married in 2005 after 12 years together.

Elton
John has officially confirmed the birth of his second son, and
revealed the name of the addition to his growing family.
The
'Rocket Man' singer has revealed that their second son is named
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, and was born on Friday in LA.
Elijah
was born through a surrogate mother, the same woman who carried their
first child Zachary, and weighed 8lb 4oz.
Elijah
will be a little brother to Zachary, who was born in December 2010.
Elton said in interviews last year that the couple would 'definitely'
have a second child, telling the media, "At what stage we don't
know, but we definitely will."
Now
he has told Hello!, "Both of us have longed to have children,
but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.
"The
birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and
perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at
this time - we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."

Elton,
65, married David, 50, in 2005, after the couple had been together
for 12 years.
He
has previously said that he didn't want Zachary to be an only child,
saying, "I think it's difficult to be an only child, and to be
an only child of someone famous," he said. "I want Zachary
to have a sibling."
