Elton John, who's making the media rounds promoting his new film "Gnomeo and Juliet," is telling music snobs to not knock hip-hop until you've seen the masters at work.

"People who mock rap, and say, 'I don't like it,' they should go check out Kanye in the studio rapping. Or Eminem when he's in the studio," John tells TeenMusic.com. "It's a phenomenon. Don't knock it until you've seen it. It may not be your cup of tea, but don't ridicule."

John is one of the 6,434,295 singers that appears on Kanye West's "All of the Lights" track from his "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy." And of course, John famously teamed up with Eminem for a performance of "Stan" at the Grammys a few years back and have stayed in touch ever since. Last year, Eminem presented John and his partner, David Furnish, a pair of diamond-encrusted sex toys.

"If you don't notice the young and you don't give them credit and you don't listen to all sorts of music then you're missing out on something," he said.

John also said how much he loved listening to Motown growing up across the pond.

"When I grew up as a kid I grew up in a house that listened to the radio, bought records. When rock and roll came in I'd already had all this knowledge of great American singers and bandleaders and musicians and jazz players by the time that I was six or seven," he said.

"Then I grew to love R&B and Motown and all Black music, gospel music. I never dismiss any form of music. I listen to everything."

London, Jan 29 (ANI): Sir Elton John recently shocked millions of BBC's Radio 2 listeners when he uttered the F-word live on air during a family radio show.
During the breakfast show, DJ Chris Evans was telling the flamboyant singer how fellow musician Jools Holland begins his day by playing the piano, when John heaved a sigh - and uttered the F-word, reports the Daily Express.
The pair both immediately said sorry to listeners and the star later issued a formal apology, saying: "I'm really, really sorry that I said that naughty word, but I can't believe anyone would want to get up first thing in the morning and play the piano."
The BBC also issued an apology, adding: "Both Sir Elton and Chris apologised many times on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show for the language used by Sir Elton. The BBC apologises if any offence was caused."(ANI)

Elton John: 'Gnomeo and Juliet nearly died'

Gnomeo and Juliet' was 11 years in the making

Elton John - who is executive producer for the animated film, as well as working on its soundtrack - admitted the movie had many "near-death experiences" as a result of being part of the Disney corporation, as people in the US didn't know what to do with gnomes.
He explained: "From the word go it has taken 11 years to get this film out. The last three or four years when we've made it has been easy but it's had so many near-death experiences as a result of being in the Disney corporation. People didn't really know what to do with gnomes in America.
"So Dick Cook, who became the president of the studio, said, 'You go away, do this film the way you want to do, with your British cast. We've tried to mess it up so many times'. So that's what we did."
Meanwhile, the 63-year-old star - who recently welcomed his first child Zachary with partner David Furnish - admitted he was only named as executive producer on the movie to "protect" the rest of his team, as it got things done faster.
He added to BBC Radio 3: "An executive producer? It means when things are bad - and they got bad - I pick up the phone to the studio and I go, 'Listen, we need to talk here, things are going bad.'
"Really, basically I protect my production team. The Elton Factor is if I ring up the studio they are going to take my call quicker than if its one of the production team. And also I can ring Michael Caine and say, 'Can you do this?' So really I'm protecting my film and protecting my production staff."

Sir Elton John apologised after swearing on air during an appearance on the Radio 2 breakfast show yesterday.
The programme's host, Chris Evans, was telling the star that Jools Holland starts the day by playing the piano, when Sir Elton sighed and said: "Oh ******* hell".

The pair both said sorry and the veteran singer then apologised again for saying "that naughty word".

Sir Elton also said the long-planned film about his life would be "a kind of fantasy" and compared it to Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge.

He said: "My life's been so surreal – from a football club to God knows what."

Accidentally swearing during a live radio broadcast on January 28, the British singer as well as host Chris Evans apologized many times for the bad choice of word.
Sir Elton John has been forced to apologize after swearing during a live radio broadcast in the U.K. on Friday, January 28. The Rocket Man hitmaker turned the air blue during an interview on the BBC's Radio 2 after host Chris Evans told him that British musician Jools Holland likes to start his day by playing the piano.

Sir Elton sighed and remarked, "Oh f**king hell." The singer immediately said sorry for his foul-mouthed slip-up, telling listeners, "Sorry about that. I was just exasperated with that. I can't think of anything worse than getting up and playing the piano. It's what I do (for a living). I do play over 100 shows a year, and I make records. I'm very, very sorry for that awful word that I said. Jools, why do you do that?"

A spokesperson for the BBC says in a statement, "Both Sir Elton and Chris apologised many times on this morning's live Chris Evans Breakfast Show for the language used by Sir Elton. The BBC apologises if any offence was caused."
