Elton John Breaks London Concert Curfew

Sir Elton John wowed a star-studded audience with an intimate show in London last night (25.11.10).
The legendary singer showcased material from his new album 'The Union', as well as his classic hits at the one-off show at the city's Union Chapel in Islington, where VIP guests included tennis star Andy Roddick and his wife Brooklyn Decker, screenwriter Richard Curtis and electro-pop duo Hurts.
Elton performed all of his songs unaccompanied on a grand piano and received a standing ovation after every number, with classics such as 'Your Song', 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' and 'Rocket Man' received particularly well. He was scheduled to play for just half an hour but broke the venue's curfew to give a full hour-and-a-half concert.
The event was hosted by Absolute Radio DJ Christian O' Connell and the station will broadcast the show in full on Boxing Day (26.12.10).
While Elton wowed the star-studded audience, the 63-year-old star has recently admitted he no longer feels he can write pop music and has no plans to release any more commercial singles.
He said: "I'm at that stage where I don't think I can write pop music anymore.
"I can't sit down and do a proper rock song. It was ok when I was 25 or 26, but not anymore. I like to do my little side-projects and have fun, but I don't think Elton John will be putting any pop singles out."

Eyeglasses but no ipod for Elton John

SIR ELTON JOHN would rather splash his cash on fancy specs than hi-tech gadgets — 250,000 of them.

The Rocket Man has admitted he's a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology and refuses to have an iPod, computer or even a mobile phone.
He told Radio 2: "I don't have an iPod or a mobile phone or a computer. I do have a quarter of a million pairs of glasses but I don't even have a mobile phone. If people want to get hold of me they can.
"The internet doesn't interest me either apart from getting my sports scores. I have a computer in the Los Angeles office but literally all I check is the news and the sports scores.
"I feel my life is full enough already and there's enough going on. I prefer writing personal notes and writing things down. Being on a Blackberry all the time would drive me crazy."
Still, he seemed to know his way around a mobile as he left his intimate gig at Chapel Union in Islington, London, last night.
Maybe he gets his minions to carry the phone for him.
