Elton John Nominated for 'Celebrity Dad of the Year'
http://www.wtma.com/rssItem.asp?feedid=115&itemid=29674635(LONDON) -- Since Elton John became a father over Christmas, he's pretty much been everywhere talking about how much he loves his new son, Zachary. Maybe that's why he's been nominated for Britain's "Celebrity Dad of the Year" award. The British paper The Independent reports that both Elton and his partner, David Furnish, are up for the award, the first gay couple to be so honored.
According to the organizers of the honor, the Celebrity Dad of the Year Award was created to "reward the celebrity dad who has impressed the nation by balancing a hectic public life with the demands of parenting."
Among Elton's competition is David Beckham -- ironic, since Elton is godfather to two of Beckham's sons.
